When did you start pole dancing
I initially started taking Pole dancing classes when I was 18 years old from a friends studio, but went off to college and was busy with my studies. I restarted Pole dancing December of 2017 and I haven't looked back.
Favorite Style of Dance
This is tricky for me as I feel like each style of dance has something unique to offer, but a few of my favorites would be: Pole, Contemporary/Lyrcial, Gogo, and Swing.
Dance Background
My dance background is pretty diverse! I started off with Irish dancing due to the ballet class being full at the recreation center I started at. From there, I fell in love with the culture and wanted to compete which then I transferred to the Tony Comerford School of Irish dance. When I reached the middle of Junior High, I wanted to expand my knowledge of dancing so I began taking classes with Dance Premier. Here I took, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and Ballet. Then I made my schedule even busier by assist teaching in hip hop and jazz. Soon after, I joined my high school dance team which competed in Pom and Dance at the State competition here in Washington. The best part about the team is we would have guest choreographers and go to dance camps which exposed me to even more styles of dance! In addition to dance team, I met this woman who worked with me and introduced me to Pole dancing. I would go there once a week on either a Saturday or Sunday morning depending on competition season. My senior year of high school I coached the Junior Dance Team and it became one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. It helped me realize I loved helping others achieve their goals, no matter how big or small. After graduating high school, I went to college and took up Swing and Salsa dancing! It was a great way to spend any Friday or Saturday night, even some Thursdays! While in college, I also joined the Elite Dance Company which included Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, and Hip Hop styles. We would perform at various functions around campus. There are plenty of more things that I have done in terms of dance, but I think that covers a lot of my background up until present which is when I joined the Enchant Vertical Dance family.
Favorite Pole Move
My favorite move so far is the back hook. It's an extremely versatile move that you can slip into choreography to surprise your audience.
